Why are people shocked by this? Andrew Sullivan (of course) (I almost wrote, “naturally”…) blogged about this right after the invasion. And old Afghan hands muttered about it occasionally.
Why are Western forces fighting and dying to protect these disgusting people, who have no intention of giving up their backward tribal hoo-doo?
