5 Feet of Fury

So here’s my first blog using BlogMe’s free WordPress + hosting package

As I mentioned a few days ago, I got a free WordPress blog plus free hosting for one year at the new BlogMe service, because I use their affiliated Twitter software, MarketMeSuite.

As promised, here’s a look at my efforts.

I’ve wanted to makeover my online portfolio/resume for some time, and I quite like the WordPress theme I chose here.

I wanted little columns along the bottom with thumbnail pix, for example, and the “Genesis” Platinum theme offered that.

Then I added free plugins like All in One SEO and Shockingly Simple Favicon to customize the blog and optimize it for the search engines.

If you aren’t familiar with FTP (and I made a lot of mistakes trying to re-learn it this week after years of non-use) then the latter might give you some trouble.

But how-tos are all over the web, and there’s always support from your host or BlogMe.

My new site isn’t perfect, and it doesn’t really show off the very glossy, premium WordPress themes you can select at BlogMe.

But the whole process was really easy — as it tends to be with WordPress — especially considering that BlogMe just launched this week so I’d expected a ton of bugs and crashes. None occurred.
