Celebrating my 10th blogversary! (now with Instalanch!)

July 19, 2010 By admin

I’ve written so many of these “blogversary” posts (ok, probably five) that I’ve run out of original observations.

Yes, it does seem a little bit hard to believe that I’ve been at this longer than Instapundit and so many big names, first at RelapsedCatholic.com and now here at 5FF.

Did I ever think I’d still be blogging ten years on?

To tell you the truth, I’d never thought about longevity until a number of truly irritating people jumped on the blog-wagon — and I quietly vowed that if nothing else, I’d outlast them, just for spite.

And in a few cases, I have.

Despite the lawsuits, the controversies and the occasional hatemail, blogging has been a highlight of my life over the past decade.

I’ve met all kinds of great people (famous and not) and boosted my “real” writing career.

My readers send me suggestions (and correct my many typos), not to mention notes of encouragement  — and donations.

Many go out of their way to shop Amazon.com and other advertisers via my site banners.

So thanks to my thousands of loyal readers for ten depressing, exhilarating, educational and ultimately rewarding years!

UPDATE — a reader writes:

So you called Obama a socialist university prof and people told you you’d gone too far.

Then you said that the police weren’t our friends and people said you were being inflammatory.

Shit, I’m afraid of what you’re going to get right next.

(Note: his subject line was “Dudley”…)

UPDATE:

Thanks to Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit for noticing my blogversary.

PS: thanks also to Hugh Esling for making the following celebratory video:

And thanks again for all your good wishes.
