Clay Aiken still not taking my advice

June 1, 2010 By admin

Clay obviously needs to release an album of alt-80s songs — stuff younger kids now call (ugh) “retro.”

He was born to sing Erasure’s “(A Little) Respect” and A-Ha’s “Take On Me.”

Add some Depeche Mode/Cure, the inevitable “Tainted Love” cover, that depressing Bronski Beat single, Talk Talk’s “It’s My Life”… you know I’m right.

He’s going with this instead.

Oh, well. Some good choices for his voice, though: “Suspicious Minds,” “Unchained Melody” and “It’s Only Make Believe.” But previewing them at iTunes, the arrangements are a bit inspid — too Lawrence Welk.

If he was gonna go that route, he should’ve stuck a Tom Jones tune on there, then.
