“Approaching”? But hey, the more the merrier:
Many Muslims, it seems, are finding it difficult to fit into western culture. Equally, it appears Westerners are increasingly fed up Muslim difficulties.
Which raises a question for both cultures: Is a tipping point approaching? I hasten to add that neither the observation nor the question is mine. They come from Muslims.
Here, for example, is Salim Mansur, a social sciences professor at the University of Western Ontario:
“I sense the public in the West quite justifiably is approaching a tipping point for the endless provocations since 9/11 from jihad-waging Islamists.”
He points to the recent Swiss vote banning minarets on mosques and the anger of Americans at the attempt to blow up an airliner en route to Detroit as signs of “how frayed the tolerance … for anything Islamic as become.”
