‘Conor Friedersdorf is the most embarrassing conservative careerist on the Internet’

So every time I read something by Conor Friedersdorf on the internet, I cringe.

He gives off this “I wanna be William F. Buckley,” just out of some fancy college, “conservative” careerist hack vibe; we’ve got a lot of those dudes up in Canada (they’re always young law school type males) so I can spot them a mile away.

HotAir posted a link to this thing he wrote at The Daily Beast about Rush Limbaugh.

Now, Rush Limbaugh was doing radio when Conor Friedersdorf was still collecting Pokemons, but it is obvious to any person who didn’t spend way too much time in college, and doesn’t have their head up Russell Kirk’s butt 24/7 that the reason Rush Limbaugh talks so much about race is because America has a unique history revolving around issues of race;

that millions of people find the issue fascinating, and wish they could talk about it, but they aren’t allowed to and look to Rush to say things they wish they could say;

and that Professional Black People talk about race constantly and Rush feels, rightly, that he has just as much right to do so as they do.

Despite Conor’s tedious laundry list of non-shocking “racial” comments, Rush Limbaugh’s most “outrageous” statement about race is still only one-tenth as provocative (and never as downright false) as anything ever uttered by Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson or your average black studies prof.

But Conor is like most young “conservatives”; that is, he’s really just a low tax liberal. He accepts the left’s premises on issues of race, borders, culture and so forth. He just thinks conservative ideas on how to run the government are better than liberal ones. He believes, as leftists do, that merely talking about race is racism.

So.

I read this thing HotAir linked to, and posted the following tweet:

Is there a more embarrassing ‘conservative’ careerist than Conor Friedersdorf? #rush

And promptly forgot about it.

About 30 minutes later, I get this email via my Ann Coulter page:

Ms. Shaidle,

I’m unsure how closely you’ve followed my career — I suspect you haven’t read the vast majority of what I’ve produced — but I see via Twitter that you’ve dubbed me the most embarrassing conservative careerist on the Internet.

I am genuinely curious to hear why. Your comment comes after my most recent piece in The Daily Beast. Is there some aspect of it that you find inaccurate?
