I have to object here to Crowder’s statement that “without their tax exempt status, a church wouldn’t be a church any more.”

Having their tax exempt status revoked — that is, uncoupling themselves from special consideration by the State — would be a great advance in terms of renewed moral authority and true independence for North American churches.
