Will ‘Joe the Nerd’ get the ‘Joe the Plumber’ treatment?

August 25, 2009 By admin

I think we all know the answer.

The perfect illustration of the “two solitudes” phenomenon in America today:

Apparently, some guy who calls himself “Joe the Nerd” “gained national recognition” during President Barack Obama’s appearance on Michael Smerconish’s radio show, “when he asked Obama about health care reform…”

The “double silo” Left/Right media divide means that I didn’t know who Smerconish or “Joe the Nerd” were until the other day/now, even though this is allegedly a Very Big Deal.

So that’s one reason conservatives will respond “Who?” or “That’s nice,” and not “Hey, let’s steal this guy’s tax returns and make fun of him on Saturday Night Live…”

The other reason is: at our best, we don’t do crap like that.

(And I don’t consider Lee Attwater our “best”.)
