A NY State program to spend US $140 million of stimulus money on school supplies for children on welfare has backfired after families receiving the money spent it on other things including flat screen televisions, cigarettes and beer.
Today’s “poor” aren’t poor. They have all kinds of useless stuff, plus free health care and education.
We need to start calling them “the broke,” instead.
