From my inbox:
Are you aware of any bloggers covering the CUPE city workers strike in Windsor? I think they are in the tenth week of striking right now. I was just talking to my grandparents and I could not believe some of the stuff they were telling me.
Here are a few things my grandparents told me:
-CUPE members put nails in the road outside one of the designated garbage dump areas so that people trying to drop off their garbage would get flat tires
-a young girl and her grandparents were picking up some garbage near the waterfront and a CUPE worker came and dumped a huge bag of garbage in front of them and antagonized them (this was recorded on cell phone)
-numerous acts of itimidation
-protesting outside the mayor’s private residence, trying to prevent him from taking his young children to nursery school
These are just a few examples.
I always say that no one who works indoors needs a union. I’m thinking I may have to add “outdoors, either” to that.
