‘Arkansas recruiting center jihadist killer studied jihad in Yemen’

So says Robert Spencer, who writes:

I have learned from a well-placed source that Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, who killed one soldier and wounded another at a a Little Rock military recruiting center today, and who faces charges of terrorism as well as first-degree murder, has recently returned from Yemen, where he studied jihad with an Islamic scholar there.

Bryan Myrick writes:

A statement from the President on the murder of Dr. Tiller – his was offered Sunday at 3:12 p.m. – was required.  His statement echoed themes from the address to Notre Dame’s 2009 graduating class (…)

It is shameful, however, that Obama did not take a moment Monday to issue an equivalent statement of moderation to elements within the American Muslim community who might claim solidarity with the Little Rock shooter.

Hatred of America has been inculcated throughout extreme strands of the Islamic religion, and Obama should recognize a raging problem on his hands, especially if unchecked extremism is going to be his criteria for reacting to these kinds of tragic shootings.

Just a reminder:

Last month, FBI agents arrested four men involved in a terrorist plot to blow up two synagogues and shoot down a National Guard aircraft in Riverdale, New York. The suspects in that case, three of whom are converts to Islam, reportedly acted independently of any global terrorist organization and formed their own localized jihadist cell.

Via Powerline:

After the murder of Kansas abortionist George Tiller on Sunday, lefties like Andy Sullivan and denizens of the Daily Kos immediately tried to pin the blame on Bill O’Reilly, who did a program critical of Dr. Tiller.

It will be interesting to see whether they’re consistent enough to blame themselves for Muhammad’s attack. After all, if Muhammad was a Sullivan reader he probably thought American soldiers don’t do anything all day long but waterboard detainees.
