And I’ve been pushing the “death cult” meme for years, with dozens and dozens of blog posts that go something like:
In World War II we nuked a suicidal fake-religion death cult that worshipped a weird guy and had strange notions about food and sex oh wait…
I’ve compared belligerent Muslims to Jim Jones and Charles Manson.
So now we learn that over at the Obama White House:
One of the memo’s suggestions: labeling Al Qaeda as a “death cult.” The memo’s authors explained their thinking: “‘Cult’ is both normative and accurate in that it suggests a pseudo-religious ideology that is outside the mainstream … Referring to [Osama] bin Laden’s movement as ‘fringe’ or ‘outside the mainstream’ may also be helpful.” The document’s contents were subsequently ridiculed by right-wing bloggers, who accused Homeland Security of excessive political correctness.
OK, I don’t limit my “death cult” name-throwing to Al Qaeda but hey, it’s a start.
Guess this makes me the new David “Axis Of Evil” Frum.
Except with way less money, fewer famous friends and no book contract.
And no penis, of course. (Oh wait…)
Also my husband doesn’t get me fired from cool jobs by sending stupid emails. Hell, I do that my own damn self!
