5 Feet of Fury

Toronto 2009: “Jewish child, you are gonna fuckin’ die!”

“Two, three, four generations of Jews helped build up this city. Now look at it…”

I guess Bernie Farber of the Canadian Jewish Congress, and his best friend the Lying Jackal, and The Guy Who Is Suing Us, were all too busy chasing imaginary Nazis on the internet to be there.

I guess Truffles the Hobbit, the young Liberal Party hack who threatened to take me to court for being an anti-semite (because I joked that he was “too stupid to really be Jewish”) was too busy to be there.

But I was there.

A puny Catholic gal and 12 — count ’em — 12 Jewish people showed up to counter-demo a big (5000+?) anti-Israel, anti-semitic rally in Toronto yesterday.

UPDATE: video by unsung chronicler of the Canadian free speech movement, “Mississauga Matt”.

I didn’t write about this yesterday because I had no internet for hours (“somebody”, according to the Rogers tech, “had pulled out our phone line” or something.)

Also because, frankly, I spent most of the demo on the verge of tears and needed to sit on this for a while.

One Jewish protester explained the small Jewish presence by citing the Sabbath.

“That’s crazy,” said a woman who came later and let me hold her Israel flag for a while:

“There aren’t enough Orthodox in Toronto for that to matter. Thursday night they had a rally at a synagogue. A synagogue? Why, so they can hide and feel safe in there? Who sees you in there?”

Before I showed up, union big wig Sid Ryan gave a speech talking about how he understood what it was like to be oppressed because he was Irish.

And an American flag and an Israeli flag were burned.

Somebody on our side snatched what was left of the Israeli one and hung it on our barricade.

When the cops told us it was too dangerous for us to stay, I grabbed the flag from the barricade, not wanting to leave it to the tender mercies of the city’s furious cab drivers, terrorist supporters and welfare cheats (the Kadar family was there) assembled only a few feet away.

It is now draped rather awkwardly on a shelf above my computer.

As we left, a gang of very young masked dudes with foreign accents screamed at us second- and third- generation Canadian taxpayers, “Go home! Go home!”

One of them was holding up a Hezbolah flag and the other, a Canadian flag.

This is Toronto, 2009.

That Jewish child who is “gonna fuckin’ die”? He was standing right beside me.

Where were you?

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

UPDATE: one of my codefendants beat me to it…

Why weren’t you there to confront them?

Because you’re not men enough?

Or because they vote Liberal?

UPDATE:

“I’m surprised the Jews didn’t use their money to send more people there.”

UPDATE: whatever happened to the spirit of Christie Pitts?

Dr. Levitt says the legend goes that trucks were commandeered, and trolled along roads in the traditionally Jewish neighbourhood of Kensington Market as passengers called out that Jews were being attacked in the Pits.

People grabbed whatever they could find — a brick, a pipe, brass knuckles, a pool cue — and ran north to become a part of the swarm in the park. Some say there were hundreds. Or else thousands. Or else tens of thousands there that night.

And the legend, according to Dr. Levitt, says it was the first time Toronto’s Jews stood up for themselves.

UPDATE: Mark Steyn…

During the last year, as the Canadian Islamic Congress and their eunuch stooges in the “human rights” commissions attempted to criminalize my books and columns as “hate crimes” (…) [t]he only public defenders of the “human rights” commissions were, of all people, the Canadian Jewish Congress, B’nai Brith Canada and other “official Jews” (in Ezra Levant’s words) who insisted state censorship was necessary in order to cow the last three “white supremacists” in Saskatchewan into submission and prevent such horrifying crimes as scrawling swastikas at knee height in public toilets.

(…)

Congratulations to the CJC on helping build a tolerant hate-free Canada. In 20 years’ time, I hope there’ll still be enough Jews in Toronto and Montreal to man the CJC offices.

UPDATE: Girl on the Right…

I spent yesterday on the “wrong” side of the street, betraying all I believe in to walk amongst the pro-Palestinian terror supporters of Toronto. I didn’t do this by choice, but because I was asked by an American anti-terror organization to cover it from the “inside”. (…)

I didn’t want to be there yesterday. I knew of the rally via Facebook, but I had no intention of being there. The one last week made my ulcer bleed, it was so ugly. This week’s, though tamer, was worse for me because I had to walk amongst the hordes. When it was over and I had run through almost 6GB of recording, I felt I needed a shower and a pork chop, which is exactly what I had.
