(JERUSALEM, ISRAEL – 14 DECEMBER 2008) – MK Arieh Eldad, founder of Israel’s Hatikva Party and chairman of the Facing Jihad Conference, unveiled today details of the emergency anti-Islamization legislation he is planning to introduce in the next Knesset. The need for the legislation announced at the Facing Jihad Conference is even more apparent in the context of last month’s terror attacks in Mumbai and will be aimed at fighting the threat of Islamic expansion.
“This legislation is aimed at confronting the enemy from within and without the State of Israel,” said Eldad at the conference. “What I am trying to accomplish is to preserve the state of Israel as a Jewish state and to continue the fight against those who say that we no longer need a Jewish state, but a bi-national state of Jews and Muslims.”
According to Eldad, the legislation calls for each and every Israeli citizen to pledge an oath of allegiance to the state of Israel, requires every citizen to serve the country either in the army or through national service and aims to crack down on the illegal acquisition of land, illegal building and organized crime in the Arab sector as well as the preaching of hateful statements and doctrines in mosques.
In addition to the legislation unveiled today, the event also featured a screening of Fitna, the controversial film by Dutch MP Geert Wilders exposing Islam as a religion that preaches terrorism, anti-Semitism and oppression of women. The film has caused uproars around the world and the screening at the Facing Jihad Conference marked the first time the film was publicly screened in Israel. Included among today’s sessions were presentations from many experts on Islam and the Middle East, including Daniel Pipes and Itamar Marcus. Dutch Parliamentarian – and producer of Fitna – Geert Wilders addressed the audience about the film, as well as other issues related to the Islamization of Europe.
“This event serves as the necessary first step that we must take to combat and ultimately defeat Global Jihad,” said Wilders. “The legislation that MK Eldad hopes to pass in the Israeli Knesset is crucial to our efforts and I look forward to introducing similar legislation in the Netherlands.”
