Celebrate UN Human Rights Day — buy my book for a friend

I can’t think of a better way to mark this dubious anniversary than grabbing an extra copy of my new (helpfully stocking sized book) The Tyranny of Nice: How Canada crushes freedom in the name of human rights — and why it matters to Americans.

The Tyranny of Nice is a Conservative Book Club selection. That means when you join the Club, you can pick it up for just a buck (along with a bunch of other gift-worthy titles) for only a dollar — and if you sign up through the banners and links on my site, I earn an astonishing US$15 per new member!

The Tyranny of Nice is also selling very well over at Mark Steyn’s site — and since he wrote the book’s intro, he’ll personally autograph your copies!

Steyn has a new post this morning about Human Rights Day, and how Canada’s Human Rights Commissions violate the very UN Declaration we boast of having signed:

…when Ezra Levant and I began our crusade against the deranged Dominion’s thought police, that if you pointed out its “human rights” regime was at odds with English Common Law and Canada’s 800-year legal inheritance stretching back to Magna Carta, it was greeted with a shrug of indifference: in Trudeaupia, who cares about all that old Brit crap?

But Trudeaupians do supposedly care about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. They like it so much they put it on the back of the $50 bill.

(…)

To be sure, Canada’s breaches of the Universal Declaration are not as egregious as Sudan’s or North Korea’s. But is that really the league you want to play in? Section 13 is incompatible with Canada’s UN obligations. On this 60th anniversary, won’t you please lay a metaphorical wreath on the remains of a document so thoroughly vandalized by the Lynch mob. And please consider signing the petition to repeal Section 13.
