Rick McGinnis: failure has a special place in Canadian politics

He writes:

Richard Nixon’s career is a perfect model – ambition and compromise, failure then triumph, followed by an even greater failure and disgrace. It’s no surprise that the best biography of the man – Garry Wills’ Nixon Agonistes – describes him in the language of Greek tragedy, while even Oliver Stone’s film bio, recently reissued on DVD, adheres to the same trajectory despite the filmmaker’s obvious distaste for his subject.
