5 Feet of Fury

My co-author on 9/11: “We were almost there…”

Pete Vere writes:

Seven years’ ago today, Sonya and I woke up early to see her parents off. We had been expecting to accompany them that morning on a day trip to New York City. We had been living along the Pennsylvania/New York border, and I was due to start a new job in Florida about a week later. So we thought this might our last chance for a while to visit the World Trade Center and other sites offered by the city.

Pete has posted three video tributes, too. I’m sure they are good but I can’t watch them.

There was a window in time of about three days immediately after the attacks that I could have, but that window is closed right now. It gets harder, not easier, for me to deal with, as time passes.

I’m probably angrier now, because I know just how many people, even in my own country, my own family, people I used to be best friends with or work with, think “America asked for it”. My own mother thought the passengers on United 93 were “idiots” for fighting back.

And of course we now battle beligerent domestic Muslims trying to hijack magazines — and university campuses and factories and offices — instead of airplanes, right here in Canada.

Anyway, the Anchoress and Michelle Malkin also offer excellent tributes.

FrontPage looks at the new documentary expose called Blocking “The Path to 9/11”, about why you can’t buy a DVD of that controversial TV mini-series.
