Out on a smoke break complaining he does not have the money to leave? STOP SMOKING.
I smoke. If it were a toss up between a smoke and an extra $5 to put in the gas tank to get away from a hurricane? My money is on gas.
Just foolish. This is going to be Katrina the 2nd. And of course it is going to be the gubments fault.
This really pisses me off.

***I don’t understand people who won’t leave. Perhaps it’s a death wish. Perhaps it’s arrogance (the storm won’t beat me). I understand not having money, but obviously they must be bussing the poor people to some sort of shelter. I doubt that they would just leave them on the side of the road and say “good luck.” So it doesn’t seem reasonable to stay. Besides, the one guy who said he’ll be working doesn’t realize that when the storm comes through, it’s going to be shut down anyway.
***I guess I wonder when the welfare checks will be delivered this time? Is there mail service on Labor Day? That obviously has nothing to do with people sticking around.

Low I.Qs, poor impulse control and an inability to make sound plans for the future = why you’re poor.

I’m proud to say I didn’t give a penny after Katrina. I’d no sooner do that than flush bills down the toilet.
When Jesus talked about the poor, he was talking about the sort of utterly powerless people who live in Ethiopia, who are born without a single, solitary chance to better themselves save a miracle (or, well, a sudden outbreak of capitalism, property ownership and the rule of law). That’s what it meant to be poor in 1st Century Palestine.
He certainly was most certainly NOT talking about people who get to vote (but don’t bother much), who get free education and health care and welfare (but end up as diabetic dropouts anyhow), who don’t have to pay taxes (as they did big time in His day), who are fat, lazy, parasitical criminals who have baby after baby out of wedlock with different men. Who spend the money they have on gold necklaces, high end sneakers, fake nails, hair extensions, big tvs and Playstations.
That’s the sort of Pharoh-like decadence, gluttony and indifference He would have ascribed to the rich.
Who He said were going to hell.
