MUST READ: Mohammed Elmasry and anti-semite Felton share the stage

The Canadian blogosphere is buzzing over last Friday’s Vancouver get together at a Burnaby mosque, that saw Mohammed Elmasry (and his successor-in-training, Steyn tormenter and hater-of-this-blog-in-particular Khurrum Awan) speaking alongside Derrick O’Keefe and notorious anti-semitic author Greg Felton.

Ostensibly a seminar on “fighting Islamophobia”, the overarching theme of the night was “Jews control the media”, with a dollop of Marxist claptrap and 9/11 obsession.

The local MSM didn’t bother showing up, but a couple of bloggers infiltrated the meeting and are reporting what they learned.

Mohammed El-Sharpton is his usual self:

Brother Dr. Elmasry began his diatribe by saying that following 9/11 Isamophobia grew to such serious proportions as to cause death then cited the murders of two non-muslims in the USA who were mistakenly identified as muslims by their attackers.  And on that happy note the good doctor launched into his analysis, if it could be called that, of how he perceives the phenomena of “Islamophobia”.  According to the good brother doctor the genesis of Islamophobia comes from the USA whose agenda it is to “exploit muslims”.  That was point 1.  Point 2 is that 50% of the American commercial airlines pass over muslim countries. (uhm, er, ?) Point 3:  muslims are a huge consumer market for the USA who wants to exploit the muslims by selling them goods and culture.  Point 4:  Israeli – Zionist penetration of the media sets the tone for Islamophobia.

(…)

And of course this is in concert with the media that is controlled by “extreme right wing elements” [their words, not mine].  This premise is repeated by Derrick O’Keefe and Brother Khurram Awan who say, respectively in their subsequent presentations that it is the media owned and monopolized by Canwest and Conrad Black who are the culprits.  The ONLY exception in Canada is The Toronto Star and a columnist called Mr. Siddiqui. The rest of the media, yes ALL of it, IN CANADA mind you is controlled by the Asper family and Conrad Black, ergo they are extreme right wing and worse that the media in the USA!! Wallahi, impossible!  But, hey, who am I to argue with these folks?

That last point is particularly fascinating since El-Sharpton and co are fighting an internationally nortorious case against Mark Steyn and… Rogers Communications, which is NOT owned by a) Conrad Black, b) the Asper Family or c) a Jew.

The infiltrator at DustMyBroom continues her report:

Brother Awan tells the audience that they must write rebuttals to all anti-muslim material in the media and if they are not published to write complaints to the Press Council but that it would be futile because the Press Council is a voluntary entity and CANWEST et al are not members so the muslims need to lobby for a National Press Council.  On the criminal law front the muslims will have little success because to get charges laid one must be the approval of the Attorney General and that will NEVER happen because the Attorney General(s) are afraid of the media.  So there would be no remedy.

But, the good muslims must advise their politicians, NDP, PC, and yes, even the once beloved Liberals, that you are going to vote AGAINST them.  Ok, so who you going to vote for?  The Green Party?  I personally consider this a form of blackmail – “if you don’t do what I tell you to do, I will vote against you”.  But that’s nothing compared to Brother Awan’s boast that the fight against McLeans magazine only cost the muslims $60,000.00.mostly for travel expenses, while it cost McLeans in excess of $2,000,000.00.

Those rebuttals sound like a great plan to me. Whenever I read these Muslim-penned rebuttals in the papers, their style and content simply encourages readers to conclude that Muslims are a bunch of touchy, confused, angry illiterates who can’t get their facts straight.

Oh and apparently, El-mo and Co. want to get October designated Islam Awareness Month. If that means schoolchildren crayon-ing big banners that read “Mohammed Raped a 9 year old” I’m all for that, too.

The report from Covenant Zone is far less impressive, but still revealing:

At the end of the speaking, an impressive table of food was laid out and all were invited to partake, though the woman who was apparently chairing the event suggested the ladies defer to the men and let them get food first.  (…)

Awan claimed that the celebrated writer, Oriana Fallaci, whom he compared to Ernst Zundel, had been cited by some UN body for hate speech. He called Mark Steyn names along the lines of rightwing Muslim-hating bigot. Awan complained about certain well known journalists for their bigotry: our friend remembers mention of the names Margaret Wente, Christopher Hitchens, Christie Blatchford, Daniel Pipes; David Warren was mentioned as not quite as bad. Referring to “right wing” writers he made some comment like “all of you know what kind of people they are”.

Poor David. I don’t think he’ll be very happy to hear that…

Muslims have to mobilize politically. British Columbia Muslims should go after the media – particularly the one company that apparently controls so much of it. And they should threaten to punish the government with their votes and voices if it thinks to dismantle the BC Human Rights Tribunal.

(…)

Without being explicitly Judeophobic, O’Keefe complained about media complicity in this Islamophobia, claiming that much of the Canadian media is in the hands of two or three families. (For non-Canadian readers, this should be taken as in large part a reference to the Jewish Asper family.) He complained that one can’t raise money in Canada for a popular political party like Hezbollah, which gets labelled terrorist by the government. He complained about Canadian General Rick Hillier referring to the Taleban in Afghanistan as murderers and scumbags. O’Keefe made some comment about writers using a defense of “satire” as an excuse for their Islamophobia. One supposes he meant Mark Steyn. O’Keefe apparently doesn’t like Irshad Manji and made some attempt at a joke about Canada having lost her to the United States. He slagged Terry Glavin and suggested there are no shortage of writers who will tell “them” (the Islamophobes? the ignorant Canadians?) what they want to hear.

Tellingly, a couple of Muslims in the audience asked the same question I have again and again (although not in the same language I’ve used):

Why don’t these people start their own newspapers instead of trying to hijack other peoples’?

El-Sharpton explained that it would be too expensive (what? No Saudi millions available for this? Don’t they fund half the mosques on earth?)

And, tellingly, O’Keefe explained that blogs were replacing newspapers.

Damn straight, oh wacky one! Damn straight.

You’d better watch out, guys. We’re everywhere and we’re on to you.
