EXCLUSIVE: Heritage Canada funds gay film fest featuring little girl/oral sex flick

(UPDATE below)

Prompted by the controversy swirlling over the cancelled PromArt program, BlazingCatFur researched other arts funding stuff and stumbled upon the Inside Out Toronto Lesbian and Gay Film and Video Festival. (Quite a mouthful, especially with dental dams…)

Here’s one of the movies, which the Festival site categorizes under “Gag Reflex”:

What do you do if you’re nine and nobody will tell you what ’fellatio’ means? When Andy’s uncle and his boyfriend arrive to babysit, she corners them with a Supersoaker and they can do nothing but comply.

BCF finds this particularly interesting because, as reported there (and here) earlier this week, this same Heritage Canada is now monitoring every issue of Catholic Insight magazine for signs of “homophobia.” If they fail, they forfeit their postal subsidy.

Now, as I’ve said before: lie down with Ceasar. Left or right, it’s lame to accept special favours from the same State you’re criticizing in your magazine. Sheesh.

But: don’t Heritage Canada’s priorities seem a bit, I dunno, warped to you? Is it just that gay activists complain louder about stuff AND get more (of your) money?

This is all about Canadians rethinking their relationship to the State.

Why do we turn to government to support almost all our publications (from Catholic Insight to Maclean’s fercrissakes), then turn to the government again get the other guy’s magazine (or film festival or whatever) put out of business for “hate speech”?

We need way more “United 93” Canadians — more folks like this.

But it will be the work of two or three generations to raise them, alas.

Anyway: BCF has EXCLUSIVE access to documents related to complaints against Catholic Insight and this whole “watch list” business, and adds:

So there you have it, in Heritage Canada’s moral universe, pedophiliac wish dreams and Gay Porn are considered a wise cultural investment, while Father de Valk is threatened with having his funding cut off for daring to support traditional values and communicating church doctrine. Nope, no double standard here.

Read the whole thing (with scanned docs).

UPDATE: one of Kate’s readers writes:

This July, I happen to be in a family restaurant here in Regina, and my daughter (11) handed me this newspaper called “Prairie Dog”. I was going to just toss it…..because it is just an NDP/Union mouthpiece piece of garbage.

But I decided to have a peek (luckily my daughter didn’t). As per the attachments, you can see I was disgusted with the contents (also, this piece of garbage is left out in the open where everyone, including my daughter, or any other minor, can just grab it and read it).

What also caught my attention, was all the Crown advertising in it.
