This snide, biased “news story” about the Steyn Show Trial reads more like a book review — a first draft book review as written by a snotty, stupid first term undergrad at a second tier college.
Yet that’s what passes for journalism today — that is, if the subject is Mark Steyn, a successful writer who gets invited to the White House and Buckingham Palace, unlike the “CTV staff” hack nobodies who are obviously jealous up the wingwang…
I love the fact that this “objective” news story is full of the authors’ opinions, but that Steyn’s own opinions — in, let me remind you, an opinion piece and not a news story — are considered (sniff!!) beyond the pale.
Kate’s right about this too:
And by the way — Africa is a tribal continent riddled with AIDS, and despite the best efforts of make believe journalism, scare quotes have been sadly ineffective in changing that.
