My Secret Source at the Steyn trial: more thoughts on yesterday

June 3, 2008 By admin

Journalists are really suffering. I talked to one reporter from a local daily who had leave the HRC coverage at noon so he could go to his other job working in a warehouse. He says the average reporter in Vancouver makes $700 per week.

CBC had 4 reporters at HRC at various times, French and English radio and TV. CBC offices only a few blocks away.

Terry O’Neill got into big arguments with sock puppets’ lawyer in the media scrum and then later with a female Muslim spectator. She was claiming severe persecution as a result of George Bush blowing up the world trade center and then blaming it on Muslims.

Considering this trial is about the aggrieved Muslims of BC there sure were not many in attendance – maybe 7 or 8. Of those I wonder how many were from Ontario.

There were between 2 and 5 police at the hearing throughout the day checking bags and generally being rude. One reporter asked if it was normal for cops at an HRC hearing and he implied no. I guess they were worried us Steyn supporters were going to get violent.
