All rights are not created equal

While I think the photo studio’s owner is a bit of a tool, I don’t see how I can support either Scott Brockie or those New Mexico photographers ,and then cheer this guy being fined and put out of business.

He should be able to dispose of his property as he sees fit. If he doesn’t want to accept a client, even for reasons that seem irrational, then ok. There are other photo retouchers in the world.

Like: Ernst Zundel. Kidding. Not about his retouching biz but… Hey I couldn’t resist.

This all started with the civil rights movement in the South. It’s really cool and brave to demand to be served at the Woolworth’s lunchcounter. Who could be against that, especially when yahoos are pouring milkshakes on the heads of their betters?

Well, now we see the results. The Law of Unintended Consequences leaves yet another bite mark on yet another butt.

All rights are not created equal. And the right to private property is much more important and has a much more impressive pedigree than the completely imaginary, unnatural, new-fangled “right” to patronize a company that doesn’t want your business.
