I’m surprised they didn’t get one by now, for perfectly embodying the Typical Post-Modern Unprincipled Canadian Male Wimp.
Remember: being “macho” is bad — the CBC says so.
Here in the Magical Land of Upside Down, we lower our flags to half-staff every December 6, to “honour” the women who were killed. Their murders broke my heart and haunted me for years, but they weren’t heads of state or members of the armed forces and don’t deserve half-staffing.
However, I suppose one could argue that they “died for their country” because their death is the direct result of Canada’s habit of letting too many scummy people come and live here.
