5 Feet of Fury

Too busy testing the latest digital camera, I guess

Instapundit: some kind of genius, eh?

“I hadn’t actually read the post in question until Greenwald started yammering about it — I thought I was just linking a nice Easter item…”

I never read him anymore and that helps explain why. Although I’ll give Reynolds credit for merely dismissing the Now Famous “Racist” Rant(tm) as just “kind of ugly” and not a sign of the end of the world as we know it.

In fact, just the opposite is true. Political correctness prevented us from talking like this in public for decades. After the initial “lancing of the boil” with its inherent unpleasantness, we can finally say what we want about each other. As it should be.

I hate to break it to Obamafreaks, but that is what part of an “honest conversation about race” sounds like. It won’t be about how wonderful you all are:

* Every time a black says he wants an “honest” dialogue about race, I reach for my wallet with one hand, and for my pistol with the other. (…) dialogue for them means lecturing, hectoring, and otherwise abusing whites, lying to our faces about race, the more egregious lie the better, and daring us to tell the truth, so they can curse us, assault us, and have us arrested or professionally destroy us. “Dialogue” for blacks and those who claim to be black, is simply yet another occasion for the exercise of black racial power, i.e., the kind they always insist they don’t have.

* I get mail from guys like that from time to time–they keep saying “I feel sorry for you” and “I pity you.” Guess what–they don’t actually feel sorry for me. They feel morally superior to me, (as Stix points out) but they sense somehow that sending mail that says “I feel morally superior to you” will make them look stupid.

I too love the “when was the last time you actually talked to an XYZ person”, because my “last time” story always has the XYZ person looking bad.

This guy may or may not have had a gun. But I had my brain and my mouth.

No contest.
