Funny to note that Sohrawardy describes himself as a ‘Sufi’ and his enemies in the mosque — the three women who have now charged him with mistreating them — as ‘Wahhabis.; This could reflect his understanding that the word “Wahhabi” can be usefully employed against other Muslims, whatever their actual background or complaints against him. Or it could be that he is indeed a ‘Sufi’ in which case, this is yet another disabusing example of a ‘Sufi’ behaving badly, in his attempt to stifle free speech, and an example that is needed, for many non-Muslims are under the  impression that ‘Sufis’ are all dreamy mystics, Rumi-readers who haven’t the time of day for Jihad. Al-Ghazali, the famous theologian, was a Sufi, and he described participation in military Jihad as a duty for Muslims, to be performed annually.
