5 Feet of Fury

Lots of great tips from my go-to gun guy

As long time readers know, I passed my Non-Restricted course last year and am waiting for my license to come through.

I learned during that course that being very short and female (with very little upper body strength) makes “regular” rifles and shotguns (especially shotguns with out of reach pump actions) difficult to handle.

Luckily, a number of readers have offered helpful suggestions, including my go-to gun guy, Frank M.

He suggested a Crickett and sure enough, Northern Tackle in Alberta tells me they are expecting some in shortly. (I forgot to ask if they ordered any in pink.)

Frank M. also suggests the Henry Mini-Bolt Youth .22

and/or the Henry Lever Action .22

I find lever actions easier to handle — and the bolt actions make me feel like Lee Harvey Oswald. So will ordering guns through the mail, but Frank says it is pretty commonplace in Canada now.
