5 Feet of Fury

“Violent incidents may not have happened yet, but…”

“I’m talking about our own homegrown religious fanatics who sometimes make the leap into actual violent terrorist attacks. I’m talking about the protesters who are picketing the homes of Planned Parenthood employees and contractors in Denver, CO.

(…)

“Just as the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were attacked because they symbolized American power to the 9/11 terrorists, women’s health centers are targeted nationwide for domestic terrorism [which hasn’t happened yet] because they symbolize women’s freedom to the terrorists that obsess over them.”

Ever notice that to “progressives”, everything is merely an analogy for something else?

Nothing exists in and of itself; every incident, no matter how horrific, is simply fodder for their increasingly sketchy metaphors and similies — comparisons which inevitably trivialize whatever already-trivial issue they’re outraged about.

Progressives don’t really care about the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon — lots of them cheered that day. But they sure don’t hesitate to use 9/11 (or the Holocaust, something else the anti-semitic Left shrugs off) as a metaphor generator, to dramatize pressing issues like (imaginary — Marcotte admits they “haven’t happened yet…”) attacks on abortion clinics, or the horrors of chicken farming.

Anyway, Dennis the Peasant fisks this column here, as part of his regular series: the Stupidest Amanda Quote of the Week.

I must say: “there’s no such thing as ‘virginity’ — it says so in this book!” is the most Lefty sentiment I’ve read in some time.
