Quebec radio host “Le Bigot” insulted Muslims, says CRTC

“In discussing Muslim women wearing the veil, Le Bigot asked whether someone with a veil was in fact a woman, or actually concealing dynamite.

“The CRTC said these remarks were ‘in and of themselves, inappropriate (and) insulting to the Muslim community.’ These remarks imply that Muslims who adhere to cultural or religious norms of wearing a veil ‘are likely to be or are automatically capable of being terrorists.’

“Though not abusive, the comments were ‘gratuitous, uncalled for and insulting to the Muslim community,’ the CRTC said.”
