“I had a strange experience this week when our GE Dryer was broken. I went on line to trouble shoot the problem and when I entered the serial number I could not find the dryer. I used to own a manufacturing business where we used a lot of equipment to make picture frames and package them so can usually figure out how to repair home appliances and I also know when to call for help.
“This time when I could not locate the Dryer model and parts I knew I had to call a repair man and when he came out none of the replacement belts he carries in his truck would fit and he looked at the manufacturing information on the dryer and informed that my bought at Home Depot in Texas dryer was made in Canada and it uses a metric belt instead of a Christian American measured in inches belt.
“He had to leave and come back the next day to install the proper belt and upon my asking he informed that I would never have been able to access the part online without a password since Canadians are not supposed to repair their dryers since there is electricity in there and they might get shocked. I was kind of surprised that Canadians don’t have enough sense to unplug their appliance before they work on them and yes, I know there are often capacitors in the innards that can hold a charge but anyone who can read can figure out where they are.
“So, what is that about, was that the real truth that Canucks can’t access repair parts since they might get hurt?”
