5 Feet of Fury

Another libertarian realizes that not everyone can be trusted to be as cool as he is

Ace of Spades on Mark Steyn v. Crazy Canadian Muslims:

“This is shameful. All those dark fantasies conservative ‘crazies’ concocted about the left actually becoming Nazi-like and Stalinist in purging and persecuting those it found troublesome on the right… well, they’re not fantasies, and those conservatives weren’t crazy.

People like me who said ‘Oh shush with that nonsense, they’d never dare, they too have a commitment to basic liberal values, if perhaps not a very strong one’ were actually the crazies.”

(PS: here’s a handy Ace of Spades flashback. It’s easy and fun to be “out there” when half your posts could be alternatively titled “I’d hit it!”, but on really important stuff, I’ll stick with the “canary in the coalmine” so-cons, thanks. For folks who pride themselves on their cleverness, libertarians seem increasingly to be about 10 years behind the zeitgeist. Nay, dare I say it, “reactionary”.)
