5 Feet of Fury

My wedding dress is here

Just arrived via In The Pink. (Thanks, Arnie!)

The size 10 fits quite well except for an ever so gape-y neck which can be tamed with a long knotted silver necklace. Lilly Pulitzer stuff doesn’t feature the “stretch” we’ve all become so used to in our clothes, so the stiffness will take some getting used to (but is perfect for the occasion…) I still have some weight to lose anyway.

The embroidery is silver, so the hunt is on for shoes. Which depend, too, upon season, time and location, none of which is firm yet.

Being a more, er, mature woman, I had looked for a suit like this one but just couldn’t find anything quite like it. I never thought about getting married like other girls did, so never fantasized about a typical princess gown and am way too old for that anyhow.

Most of you liked this dress, but one reader objected to the “Hanoi Jane” retro look. I prefer to think that this Lilly Pulitzer has a “Liz & Dick Remarry” vibe which suits a woman of a certain age who hasn’t yet reached “dowager” status.

UPDATE: proof that I have a sense of humour about myself…

(And I’m not FAT!)
