“Poor Vaughn Meader…”

December 6, 2007 By admin

was how Lenny Bruce opened his first gig after November 22, 1963.

The Anchoress listened to “The First Family” so much as a kid, she still has it memorized.

(I’m the same with Young Frankenstein — I can recite all the dialogue from start to finish. Should the need ever arise… As Dick Cavett used to say about his ability to ad lib in iambic pentameter: “I stand to win a great deal of money in a game show that will never be invented.”)

Anyway, the Anchoress has learned that “The First Family” is on CD now. I’m not sure I’d find it funny, given the way the “story” ended.

But I just love old crap like this.
