“Aren’t they fed yet…?” — a game show asks the unaskable

During one of my rare TV remote surfing excursions up to the “old” single digit networks, I saw promos for a new prime time game show called Nothing But The Truth.

We’re supposed to be shocked that one of the contestants (they’re all hooked up to lie detectors btw) is asked, “Do you really care about the starving children in Africa?”

And she says, “No.”

So?

I don’t trust people who claim to care disproportionally about the starving children in Africa. They’re either liars, or they have twisted priorities/too much time on their hands, or they have suspiciously few concrete, real life responsibilities for people their age.

Let’s face it: other Africans don’t care much about starving Africans, or they wouldn’t steal foreign aid from the mouths of their fellow citizens.

The Great White Liberal doesn’t really care, otherwise they’d never have banned DDT or fertilizer… He’s just indulging in masturbatory/circle jerk moral exhibitionism.

Africa is a basketcase and that isn’t my problem. Christianity was probably helping, but they seem to prefer Islam, with predictable results.

The fact that that question made it on the air (particularly with the revealing word “really” in it) means I’m not the only person whose answer would be “no”.
