5 Feet of Fury

Best and worst GOP CNN/YouTube questions from last night’s debate

Michelle Malkin is all over the fact that many of the questioners were Democratic activist plants, through the majik of the interwebs.

Best question? (I’ll post the video once I find it):

I’m Jay Fox, lifetime member of the NRA. Now, I am from a small town and as in any small town, we like our big guns. My question to you is: What is your opinion of gun control? And don’t worry [racks his shotgun] you can answer however you like.

Worst? A tie between a dude I’ll call “Travis Bible”, and that Muslim convert chick.

Worst question led to best answer, from Duncan Hunter:

Cooper, Cooper, very simply, to the critics of America I would say this. When you were faced with disease and starvation, the Americans brought food and medicine. When you had earthquakes and tsunamis and floods, the Americans came and helped you. And when you were threatened from outside, the Americans left the safety of their own homes to come and defend you.

I will never apologize for the United States of America.

Here’s what I would have added:

It’s time the Muslims of the Middle East cared about what we think of them, about their image in the world.

We’ve just heard of a British teacher — again, a Westerner giving her time to help underprivileged Muslims abroad — being threatened with 30 lashes for the “crime” of letting her pupils name a teddy bear “Mohammed.”

Yet every day, real live human Muslims named “Mohammed” behead and blow up human beings — some of them named “Mohammed”, too.

Most Muslims in the Middle East are illiterate, kept that way by their leaders for whom an ignorant populace in the thrall of bizarre conspiracy theories are more useful to them in the short term. Women are mutilated, children are used as human shields.

It’s time the Muslims in the Middle East turned from unjustly criticizing us to dealing with their own “image problems”.
