“Word from a Soldier in Iraq”

November 17, 2007 By admin

Orson Scott Card’s infrequent columns are always worth reading. They’re long, so grab a coffee.

I’m busy most of today, but will be blogging later this aft. Yes, I will eventually write something about my past 3 weekends learning about guns (i.e., they’re heavy). But the course was very book oriented — it isn’t like we were out there actually, you know, shooting stuff. This is Canada.

We also watched a lot of 70s instructional videos. Those last three words made you shudder, if you’re of a certain age. You can hear that woodwindy music and totally FEEL the BEIGE, can’t you? They were like After School Specials. The one about field dressing was basically Last House on the Left, but with a moose.
